Honor 8 won’t get Android 8.0 Oreo after all
In December of last year, Honor president George Zhao announced that several handsets would get upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo, including the Honor 8. However, it turns out that will not be the case after all.
The official Honor India Twitter app has tweeted out that the Honor 8 will not be getting upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo after all. According to the tweet, the smartphone isn’t compatible with Oreo due to software and hardware limitations:
@Ushu we can understand your concern. However, we regret to inform you that Honor 8 is not compatible for Android Oreo update due to hardware and software limitations. Further, Honor 8 will get security patch update when needed. Inconvenience is regretted.

The tweet does state that the Honor 8 will continue to get security patch updates “when needed”, so that’s some good news for Honor 8 owners. For those looking forward to the Android 8.0 update that was essentially confirmed by the smartphone company’s president just a month ago, this news might not go over well.
Do you own an Honor 8?
