Google’s Head of Product for Real-Time Communications leaves for Facebook
Amit Fulay, Head of Product for Real-Time Communications at Google, has left the company to work at Facebook. His last responsibilities at Google put him in charge of Allo, Duo, and other communication projects before his departure.
Today is my first day at Facebook – accepted their friend request :)
Excited about the opportunity to serve so many users.— Amit Fulay (@amitfulay) January 8, 2018
With Facebook’s focus on the chat aspect of its social network and Fulay’s experience at Google, it’s likely that he is working on Facebook Messenger in some capacity. His official position at Facebook has not been announced.
We don’t know who is replacing him at Google, but it will be interesting to see if the direction of Google’s communication apps changes. There has been plenty of outcry at the company’s handling of Hangouts, Allo, and Duo so we might see some changes. We hope we do, anyway.
