LG ThinQ smart speaker features Google Assistant, will be fully unveiled at CES
Word is that Samsung is planning on building its own smart speaker and that it may be unveiled in the early stages of 2018. Now LG has revealed that it plans on jumping ahead by announcing its own smart speaker at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January.
This is one of those situations where LG is technically announcing a new product right now, including showing off a picture of it, but is going to fully unveil on a big stage at a later date. This time around we’re meeting the LG ThinQ smart speaker, which will be announced and shown off at CES in just a couple of weeks.
The ThinQ smart speaker sounds like it will share plenty of similarities between the other smart speakers on the market, but LG hopes the inclusion of Google Assistant will help make it stand out. LG says the ThinQ will also let you use your voice to control LG-branded smart home appliances, so you could use it to turn on your air purifier with just a simple voice command.
The ThinQ smart speaker will feature Meridian Audio technology, too, and its High Resolution Audio is “compatible with “high quality lossless files, giving it the ability to faithfully recreate sounds that were originally recorded in the studio.”
The Life’s Good crew didn’t include a price point in their announcement today, nor any word on when the ThinQ smart speaker will be available.
How many smart speakers do you have in your home?
