Google launches beta of next Android Wear update

At Google I/O 2017, the company announced that it would be rolling out an update to Android Wear this fall. Now that the season is upon us, Google has released the beta of the next Android Wear update. The update is largely technical and improves upon API 26, with enhancements to background limits and notification channels. The beta is available to LG Watch Sport users, who sign up through Google’s website for the Android Wear beta program.

With the notification improvements, users can now set which notifications they receive from an app through notification channels. So if you only want to be notified for friend requests, but not likes, you can easily do that. With the changes to background services, services will no longer run in the background without a visible notification. As a whole, the new restrictions should increase efficiency and performance.
