Samsung Galaxy Note 4 facing battery recall due to counterfeit batteries

The end of last year was marred by the recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 due to battery issues, and now the Galaxy Note 4 has found itself in the lime light for a similar, but far less explosive, reason.

Just over 10,000 Galaxy Note 4 batteries are being recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which states that they are outfitted with counterfeit batteries. According to the report, the recall only covers devices that passed through the AT&T refurbishing process and devices distributed to customers by FedEx Supply Chain. Not every unit is outfitted with a counterfeit batteries, but some have been, so the general recall was put out.

As it stands, only one report of overheating with one of these batteries in a Galaxy Note 4 has come to light, and it did not lead to any damage to property or persons, which is good news.

FedEx Supply Chain is currently working on distributing replacement batteries now and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says that anyone who has a refurbished Galaxy Note 4 from AT&T should stop using the device immediately.

Luckily for owners affected by the recall, buying a battery is easy enough, at least until the replacement battery is delivered. This is also not a similar situation to the Galaxy Note 7 from last year, thankfully.

Do you know anyone who will deal with this issue? When is the last time you saw a Galaxy Note 4 in the wild?
