LG V30 will have 6-inch OLED screen with curved edges
LG is introducing a new flagship smartphone in a few weeks, which means that it’s time for the company to start dropping teasers for the new device.
LG says that its “next flagship smartphone” will have a 6-inch 2880×1440 OLED display. The screen will include curved edges, and LG says that it’s working to reduce the upper and lower bezels by 20 and 50 percent compared to the LG V20. LG has also moved its logo from below the display to the back of the phone to increase viewable screen space.
This OLED display will also offer HDR10 support and will be covered with Gorilla Glass 5 to help protect against drops. LG has built in advanced encapsulation and pixel-scanning technology to combat burn-in.
The news that LG is using OLED for its next flagship, aka the V30, is notable for a couple of reasons. LG touts that its OLED display will offer better image quality through perfect black and and more accurate colors, and that the faster operational response time will make the display better for VR. It’s also notable because the company’s other recent flagships, the V20 and G6, used LCD screens rather than OLED.
The LG V30 is likely going to make its debut at an event on August 31st. Stay tuned, because if history is any indication, LG will drop a few more V30 teasers before then.
