Google may announce the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 on October 5
By now, we’ve seen a few different leaks and rumors regarding Google’s upcoming flagship smartphones, the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. And now we have another rumor suggesting we’ll see the new devices in early October.
Serial leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) says that “Google’s second-generation Pixel handsets” will be unveiled on October 5. He adds that the devices will be “powered by Snapdragon 836 SoC’s,” which would line up with an earlier rumor. That would give Google a leg up on the competition as far as bullet points on a spec sheet goes.
In a tweeted reply to another user, Blass seemed to confirm that the new Pixel phones will lack 3.5mm headphone jacks, which wouldn’t be too surprising at this point.
With an early October unveiling, the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 may see store shelves a month later, or perhaps by the end of October, so we don’t have too much longer to wait. And for those planning on going for the smaller handset, the Pixel 2, the FCC recently revealed that the device may feature a squeezable frame, similar to the HTC U11.
Are you already planning on upgrading to a second-generation Pixel smartphone this year?
