Android O reveal event scheduled for August 21

We already know Android O exists and that it will arrive on some Android devices soon, but Google is planning a pretty big reveal party next week.

On August 21, there is going to be a total eclipse. There will also be a reveal party for Android O. Google has officially launched a countdown timer and has confirmed it will reveal the next major version of Android on August 21. The livestream will start at 2:40 PM ET, which perfectly coincides with the solar eclipse.

If you ask Google, they’ll tell you they’re “bringing some super (sweet) new powers” with Android O, but there’s no telling what that is at this moment because that’s about all Google says on the page. There are no new details about the platform, but it certainly sounds like they have things to talk about. And hopefully it will be more than just confirming the name of Android O.

Of course, we already know plenty about Android O. That includes picture-in-picture support on smartphones and more. Rumor has it that Pixel and Nexus devices will begin receiving the Android O update next week, so Google’s reveal party will probably see that become a reality.

Are you looking forward to the arrival of Android O?
