Sprint Flex makes it easier to get a new phone after 18 months
Carriers have made it easier to upgrade to a new phone on a semi-regular basis thanks to leasing options and dropping lengthy contracts. And now Sprint aims to make it a bit easier for its subscribers.
Announced today, Sprint Flex makes it possible for subscribers to quickly and easily pick up a new phone after 18 months of service. Sprint says it’s a new way for customers not to “get stuck with their old phone.” Sprint’s also keeping iPhone Forever and Galaxy Forever, the two options that allow owners of Apple’s or Samsung’s phones to upgrade on a yearly basis. Subscribers can opt to pay $5 per month to upgrade every year if they don’t buy an Apple or Samsung phone.
So, here’s how it works: A customer picks up a new phone on a monthly leasing option, starting with the low minimum down payment towards it. When the customer gets to 18 months, they can choose to return their device and pick up a new one, own the device by paying off the remainder of the price in one payment, or pay six more monthly installments keep the phone.
On top of that, the Now Network also revealed Sprint Deals, which it says offers a “value menu” for subscribers that want to pick up an affordable smartphone with or without a credit it check:
Customers who apply for and receive credit with Sprint, can take advantage of Sprint Flex on a postpaid plan:
- For entry-level devices, customers pay $5 per month with $25 down.
- For higher-end devices, customers pay $10 per month with $30 down.
Customers who prefer to bypass a credit check with Sprint, can get an instant discount on the same “value menu” of smartphones, on a Sprint Forward prepaid plan:
- For entry-level devices, customers get 50 percent off the suggested retail price.
- For higher-end devices, customers pay 25 percent off the suggested retail price.
Sprint Flex and Sprint Deals are live now.
