ZTE Reveals Blade V7, Yet Another Low-Priced Phone Trying to Look its Best

Without much fuss, ZTE revealed the Blade V7 as part of its MWC 2016 promotional website. This is a phone with clear influences from both sides of the smartphone war, but we won’t hold it against it. That said, it’s clear that the days of low-end and mid-range devices looking like a heap of plastic with buttons randomly stuck on in odd and poor fashion is (thankfully) over.

Unoriginal though the design may be, it certainly looks good with its gold or silver, all-aluminium body.

In the spec department, it seems to checks the boxes you’d expect from a 2016 device. The 7.5mm thin phone packs a 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, a 5.2” 1080p screen, and a 2500mAh battery. The front-facing camera can, according to the promotional page, find focus in 0.3 seconds, making for easier snapshots before your kids/dogs/aunts/skeletons run out of frame.

In terms of system specifications, it comes with Android Marshmallow out of the box, and running a MediaTek 6753 with a 1.3GHz octa-core CPU. Internal memory is unfortunately limited to 16GB, with no mention of a MicroSD slot, but – then again – you can’t have everything in a mid-range phone. The 2GB of RAM shouldn’t be too damning either as long as the custom skin is kept light-weight and somewhat efficient. Overall, it seems to be a somewhat reasonable device as long as the price reflects the specifications and lands somewhere below $300.
