What Would You Do in a World Without Root Access?

Thought experiment: Imagine a world without root access. Most of what we love about XDA would not exist, and we would have to settle for more locked down devices. Would you switch to a different platform if Android root was magically forbidden? What would your smartphone look like? Which kind of phone would you pick? How would your actual life be different?
