Sega will be launching a new game onto mobile devices in Japan next month called Monster Gear. This is a sort of Monster Hunter style of game with four-player co-op gameplay where groups of people, or the strong solo type, go out and hunt down rather large monsters.

Unfortunately these isn't a ton of details about Monster Gear right now besides the above mentioned and that missions will be geared for mobile gameplay, not lasting much longer than 5 minutes. Also controls consist of “Attack,” “Guard,” and “Special Double Attack” and that this game is playable using one hand if need be. Other than that, there isn't much to go on. We can guess it will follow a lot of the same mechanics and gameplay as the Monster Hunter franchise, which is very popular on all the platforms it appears on, which doesn't include Android yet.

Needless to say a Monster Hunter type game should do well on Android and if Sega gets a game like Monster Hunter out before Capcom actually bothers releasing one on Android, more power to Sega. Unfortunately, right now Japan is the only region that has been announced for Monster Gear. Let's hope that isn't a permanent detail and that the West will eventually see the release of this game as well. Should more details get released, we will post an update.
