Google Apps Admin Console Starts Rolling Out A New Material Redesign

Most Android users have opted into Google's ecosystem with a personal Gmail account, but some use their own domain and sign up with a Google Apps account. If you're in the latter category, you'll be happy to know that Google's latest design philosophy is trickling down to the admin console of your Google Apps account.

It's Material — pretty, simple, and elegant. It has a sliding navigation menu that overrides the entire screen and a cleaner toolbar with new iconography. And yes, if you must know, there's a FAB. It's not just about looks though, as the change promises to make the most common tasks easier to achieve, like managing multiple users.

The new layout is rolling out gradually to all domains over the next weeks, but Google has been emailing admins letting them know about the redesign and providing some documentation along with it. Check out the email below for the announcement and the corresponding links.

Hello Administrators,

We’re excited to announce that the Admin console has been redesigned to better meet your needs, putting your most important controls front and center and making the most common tasks easier than ever to complete.

We’ve prepared an overview guidevideo tutorial, and screenshots outlining how to change settings, manage users, apply filters, and access other frequently used features in the new UI.

The redesign is being rolled out gradually to all domains over the coming weeks. We hope you like the changes and we’ll continue to work to provide you with efficient, friendly, and accessible tools.

Sincerely,
The Google for Work Team
