Qualcomm says Snapdragon 810 won’t be in upcoming flagship, may be referring to Galaxy S6

Earlier this month, a rumor claimed that Samsung had decided to not use the Snapdragon 810 in the Galaxy S6. Now it looks like that report may have been the accurate.

Qualcomm today announced its Q1 FY15 earnings, and the company warned that it was lowering its outlook for the second half of its fiscal 2015. The reason? Because it expects that the Snapdragon 810 “will not be in the upcoming design cycle of a large customer’s flagship device”.

Ok, let’s go over Qualcomm’s statement and see if it applies to Samsung. Large customer? Yep. Upcoming flagship device? That fits too. And since it’s got its own Exynos chips, Samsung can afford to pass on Qualcomm and the Snapdragon 810 in its new processor.

We’ll have to wait until the Galaxy S6 is officially announced before we know for sure what processor is powering it, but it’s looking increasingly likely that whatever it is, it own’t be a Qualcomm CPU. Is that a deal breaker for you?
