MultiROM Available on the Sony Xperia ZL
The Sony Xperia ZL was released back in April 2013 alongside the more well-known flagship Xperia Z, and the ZL featured almost identical specifications to its sibling. Since then, it has received Android 4.3 and then 4.4 earlier this year from Sony, as well as strong aftermarket support, as can be seen with the development of useful features such as ROMswitcher. And now, we can add MultiROM to this list of accomplishments for the Xperia ZL as well.
Thanks to the efforts of XDA Recognized Contributor Olivier who developed this, MultiROM now allows users of the Xperia ZL boot any number of Android ROMs on their device. This consists of a primary ROM for the phone, and secondary ROMs, which you can have a number of. Installation of this mod does require OmniROM to be the primary ROM on the device, but this can be replaced with another once it has been installed. The mod also enables you to restore a nandroid backup of a ROM as a secondary ROM, and boot from a USB drive attached to the phone via an OTG cable. Furthermore, a recent update to the mod now allows you to flash CyanogenMod 12 and any other Android 5.0 ROMs as secondary ROMs, so you can try out Lollipop without having to wipe the ROM you’re currently using.
If you own an Xperia ZL and want to give this a go, head over to the Xperia ZL MultiROM thread for more information.
