Amazon is entering the smartphone business with the Amazon Fire Phone. Running on their custom  3.5.0 Fire OS which is Android but  heavily altered, the Fire Phone has a set of new features to set itself apart from other phones on the market. With a 4.7 HD display, the Fire Phone's processor is a 2.2GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. In layman's terms, it is very powerful.
New features not found on any previous Fire devices are included. Â Dynamic Perspectives allows Fire Phone users to use an advanced motion sensor system that not only provides new shortcuts in using the device, but also give advanced controls in apps and games. Â Also included is Firefly, with the press of a button on the side of the device, the phone can identify email addresses and other printed text along with movies and music (using the mic). You can search for a book just by aiming the camera's lense at the book.
From a gamer's perspective, Dyanmic view will allow for new ways to control games through motions. One example given is being able to view more of the battlefield in Saber's Edge. Amazon Game Studios is also bringing exclusive games to the Fire Phone later this summer.
The Amazon Fire Phone comes out July 25 with a starting price of $199 with contract for a 32GB model, or $649 without a plan. Buying the phone also gives owners a free year of Amazon Prime, which host a variety of features including free two day shipping on most items and instant streaming of many popular movies and TV shows.
