[E3 2014] Gameloft Reveals Dungeon Gems - Their Entry Into The Puzzle-RPG Genre

Gameloft has recently been teasing the reveal of a few new games at E3. One of those games is Dungeon Gems and if you were thinking it is a puzzle game from all the concept art, then you were correct. Part puzzle game, part dungeon crawler, players swipe gems, you will be doing all of this in order to defeat your enemies.

The enemies, or demons as they are called, appear in a dungeon which is fully rendered in 3D visuals. As you explore the dungeons you will encounter demons who you will have to fight along the way. You will also be finding new characters to use in those dungeons as well.

With the characters you find players can then assemble a team in order to fight in stronger dungeons. Combat is done in a similar way to most other Puzzle-RPG titles with swiping matching gems together in order to unleash attacks. However there looks to be an evolution mechanic to the game as well using the gems. One thing players will have to get used to is that the game is played with the screen in a portrait orientation the entire time. The top half showing the dungeon and demons while the bottom half of the screen displays the gems players will be swiping.

Right now we are digging around for even more information regarding this game and we also have a round-up of all the Gameloft titles announced as well. As for a release date, nothing solid has been announced for Dungeon Gems. In the meantime, you can check out TouchArcade's hands-on with Dungeon Gems in the video below.
