Snapchat update adds threaded messaging feature

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who Snap, and those who don’t. For those who do indulge in the vanishing message teen craze, Snapchat has just been updated with a rather useful threaded messaging feature.

In a blog post titled “Putting the chat in Snapchat,” Snapchat today announced an update that adds a new layer of communication to their wildly popular app. On top of being able to send one-sided, self-destructing videos and pictures to your friends, you can now have an actual conversation with them, complete with video messaging.

Of course, this wouldn’t be Snapchat if there wasn’t some illusion of privacy included in the feature. All chats will disappear once you back out of them unless you screenshot or tap on a certain line of text. For example, if you use the new chat feature to make plans, you could tap on the address of where you’re headed, and even if you back out, the information will be saved.

The update should be available in Google Play starting today. If you’ve hit the update button, let us know what you think.
