Sliding-Ball is a Mobile Take on Marble Madness for the 3D Age

If you’re anything like I am, you probably spent a good deal of your childhood playing the iconic Atari game Marble Madness. Since the mid 80s, not too many games have built on the the success of this concept, but the ones that have have seen great commercial success. Now, XDA Forum Member Bosnow hopes to bring back this classic game style with Sliding-Ball.

As you may infer from the game’s name, Sliding-Ball puts you in command of a ball that slides around the game field. Your goal is to slide, turn, and jump your way to each level’s goal. To do this, you have two control areas. On the left side of the screen, you have a virtual D-pad. And on the right, you have an area where you can slide your finger to rotate the camera or tap to jump.

The puzzles start off incredibly simple, requiring just a couple of jumps and slides to reach the goal. But after a few levels, or if you dare venture into hard mode, you’ll find yourself crying in a corner in no time. The game itself features remarkably nice graphics. And thanks to its use of Unity game engine, everything is nice and smooth. For reference, my stock Nexus 5 was able to run everything on Ultra mode with no visible frame drop.

Overall, Sliding-Ball is addictive, challenging, fun, and beautiful. And if you ever spent time with Marble Madness in the past, you should definitely give Sliding-Ball a shot. Head over to the game thread to get started.
