Samsung Jumpstarts Wearable App Development with Global Software Challenge [Sponsored]
Mobile apps. Wearable tech. Ubiquitous computing. The future is, quite literally, at our fingertips. No longer constrained to desks, cubicles, or even traditional screens – we can take our world with us.
That’s why, with it’s keen interest in mobile technology and innovation, Samsung is hosting the Gear App Challenge to jumpstart the wearable app ecosystem.
With a total of $1.25M in available prizes, Samsung is opening up the Gear SDK to developers around the globe and challenging them to create functional, creative, and original apps with the Gear2 smart watch.
“This challenge marks the beginning of Samsung’s plan to boost the app ecosystem for the recently unveiled Samsung Gear 2. Samsung will continue to play its part in the wearable market through offering a wide array of outstanding SDKs to app developers.” said Won-Pyo Hong, President of Samsung Electronics Media Solution Center.
In addition, Samsung is planning events worldwide to help developers better understand the SDK for the Samsung Gear 2. The company will meet developers around the world through the Samsung Gear Hackathons and Developer Days.
Developers can submit their apps between May 7th and July 17th. The top 200 finalists will each win $2,000 and advance to the finals where they’ll compete for an additional $850,000 in prizes!
