[OTA, RUU Available] Verizon HTC One Max Receives Sense 6

onemax

Over the past several weeks, we’ve seen several variants of HTC’s former flagship M7 receive their official updates to Sense 6. This started with the Sense 6 roll out to developer and unlocked devices, and continued with updates to the T-MobileVerizonSprint, and AT&T variants of the device.

All of these M7 updates naturally lead many to wonder about the status of the M7′s larger sibling, the HTC One Max. But other than a Sense 6 update for the Sprint variant released at the beginning of this month, carrier variants of the One Max have taken somewhat of a back seat to the M7. But now, the Sense 6 update has finally arrived on the Verizon variant of the HTC One Max (despite not yet showing up on HTC’s Software Updates page), and it brings all the goodies that we have seen on other recent Sense 6 updates for last generation HTC devices.

The update, which actually started making its rounds yesterday afternoon, comes in at software version 3.08.605.1. But before we get too excited, this particular update lacks a few of the goodies that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing in Sense 6 updates for other HTC devices. Most notably, this build does not bring the new Extreme Power Saving mode or HTC Backup. However, it still brings the device up to Sense 6, which is a step in the right direction.

As is nearly always the case, the update will eventually make its way out to consumer devices over the course of the coming week or two. However, XDA Recognized Developer Flyhalf205 has gone ahead and mirrored the OTA for your sideloading pleasure. And if you’re S-Off and you want the complete update in fastboot/hboot-flashable RUU format, XDA Recognized Contributor dottat (who also brought us the RUU for the Verizon M7 Sense 6 update) has you covered.

If you’re rocking a Verizon HTC One Max and wish to update to Sense 6, head over to the links above to download either the sideloadable OTA or the repackaged RUU (for S-Off users). Alternatively, Flyhalf205 is currently cooking up a custom ROM based on this OTA that will incorporate all of the features missing in this OTA.

[Many thanks to dottat for the heads up!]
