Google Glass XE17.1 OTA Captured, Updated Factory Image and Rooted Boot Image Now Available

medium

Two days ago and coinciding with Google Glass‘s public release, Google shed some light on the upcoming XE17.1 firmware. This update follows up on last week’s XE17 bugfix release, while bringing a few new features to make upgrading worth your while.

For those in need of a quick refresher, XE17.1 brings back the ability to share places from Google Maps on Android directly with Google Glass. This place sharing functionality requires Android MyGlass 3.0.0, which was made available earlier this morning.

Naturally given the newly restored places sharing, many Glass Explorers found themselves lusting after the XE17.1 updates. However, XE17.1 hasn’t made its way to consumer devices just yet. And as expected, it also hasn’t appeared on the Google Glass Factory Images page. But that never stopped us here at XDA, right?

Glass explorers eager to get in on the XE17.1 action can now do so, thanks to XDA Recognized Contributor TheManii‘s stock firmware thread. Inside, you’ll find not only the XE17.1 captured OTA (courtesy of Senior Member winner00), but also the signed XE17.1 factory image and pre-rooted boot image. Now, go grab XE17.1, load up the previously mentioned MyGlass 3.0, and go live up to your wearable device’s name and Explore!
