Forum Added for the Amazon Fire TV

Not content with simply being the world’s online retailer of choice, alternate Android Appstore provider, and wallet-friendly tablet maker, Amazon has decided to invite itself into your living room. I’m of course talking about the recently released Amazon Fire TV set-top box. And now, we’ve gone ahead and given the Fire TV a place here in our forums.

At its heart, the Amazon Fire TV is another entrant in the already populated world of Internet media streaming devices. But unlike competing options from Google, Apple, and Roku, the Fire TV packs quite a bit of horsepower and offers some unique functionality such as  gaming and unified voice search.

In addition to simply accessing content from online media providers, the Fire TV also functions as an Android-powered gaming device. This is enabled thanks to the device’s relatively powerful quad-core Snapdragon S4 Prime SoC, consisting of 4 Krait 300 cores running at 1.7 GHz and an Adreno 320 GPU running at 400 MHz. The speedy processor is backed by 2 gigs of 533 MHz LPDDR2 memory and 8 gigs of internal storage. The Fire TV connects to your TV via HDMI, and supports standard USB and Bluetooth devices.

Will you let Amazon into your living room with the Fire TV, or are you loyal to one of the many other media streamers currently available? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and don’t forget to visit our newly created Amazon Fire TV forums.
