Motorola updates Gallery with scroll bar, memory of last view

In my opinion, Motorola’s gallery app is the best on any Android device. It’s fast, easy to use, and throws you into the camera roll immediately instead of having to choose an album. However, some people might not like that last feature despite me finding it incredibly useful. Well Motorola updates many of its apps through the Play Store, so the latest update to the Gallery will be coming to all Moto X, Droid Ultra, Droid Mini, and Droid Maxx users running KitKat.

This update now remembers what view you were last in, so if you prefer the album view, it will enter album view when you open the Gallery. Motorola also added a scroll bar to the right, letting you scroll through all the photos almost instantly. This was something I missed and I’m glad to see put in. Lastly, the notification bar has been put back in on the Droid series of devices.

That last decision doesn’t really make sense to me. Whether a gallery should have a notification bar or not is arguable, but why restore it specifically on the Droid series but not the Moto X? I’d understand if the Moto X had immersive mode for the gallery, but it doesn’t. The on screen buttons stay black. It’s a strange decision, but not a big deal.

If you want to update the app, and why wouldn’t you, either head to the Play Store on your Motorola device or hit the widget below to get the latest version! Then leave a comment telling us what you think. And lastly, we would love to know, what’s your favorite gallery app?
