HTC Sense 6 from the M8 Ported to the Evo 4G LTE

A few days ago, we talked about a leaked document showing HTC’s tentative software update schedule for various devices. Unfortunately, the picture for the two-year-old Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE is relatively bleak. The Evo 4G LTE isn’t scheduled to receive an update to Sense 6, and no information is available about a future update to KitKat. However, the lack of official updates never stopped the aftermarket development community.

Recognized Developer Sinistertensai and Recognized Contributor chubbzlou took it upon themselves to get HTC Sense 6 working on the aging Evo 4G LTE. The ROM itself is a port of the HTC One (2014) M8, and as such, it also packs Android 4.4.2. Currently, it’s not anywhere close to being daily driver status, as there are issues with the camera, sound, calling, and mobile data. Despite this, it’s nice to see that progress is being made on a popular, but aging device.

If you own an Evo 4G LTE and wish to try out a taste of Sense 6, head over to the original thread to get started. But since this is nowhere near daily driver status, please make sure that you have a working Nandroid backup so that you can restore after testing.
