Samsung tweets updated version of Exynos 5 Octa chip coming next week, more info to come

Samsung announced its next generation of SoCs with great fanfare with the Exynos 5 Octa back at CES last January. However, the chip has failed to appear in many devices since then, as it’s only in one variant of the Galaxy S 4, and it looks like it won’t even be in the Galaxy Note III.

However, Samsung tweeted today from @SamsungExynos that they would be releasing an updated version of the Exynos 5 Octa. Although they haven’t gone into detail about what’s changing about the hardware, this definitely means that they’re fixing whatever issues were behind the first version not showing up in a multitude of devices.
As we wait for some more information, we wonder whether Samsung is going to just announce the hardware changes or also announce the chip’s placement in some of their future devices. More to come next week.
