Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro both feature big screens and minimal bezels
As expected, Huawei today introduced its new Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro flagship smartphones.
The Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are both powered by Huawei’s new octa-core Kirin 970 processor. It also includes a dedicated Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU) that Huawei touts can improve performance of AI tasks by 25 times while also offering 50 times better energy efficiency for AI-related tasks.
Another highlight of the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro is their cameras. Both phones have dual rear camera setups with Leica branding. There’s a 12-megapixel RGB sensor and 20-megapixel monochrome sensor here with f/1.6 aperture, OIS, PDAF, and dual LED flash. Huawei also continues with its AI focus here, boasting that the cameras have AI-powered Bokeh Effect, Digital Zoom, and Real-Time Scene and Object Recognition.
Both the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro also include a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging and a battery management system that aims to learn your behaviors and allocate system resources to maximize battery life. The two phones include 3D glass bodies, NFC, dual SIM slots, and USB Type-C, too.
There are some differences between Huawei’s new flagships worth noting. The Mate 10 is equipped with a 5.9-inch 2560×1440 LCD screen with a 16:0 aspect ratio, while the Mate 10 has a 6-inch 2160×1080 OLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Also of note is that the Mate 10’s fingerprint reader is on the front of the device, below the display, while the Mate 10 Pro’s is located below the rear cameras.
The Mate 10 features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage, while the Mate 10 Pro is packing 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. There’s IP67 water and dust resistance included with the Mate 10 Pro, as well.
Huawei today also revealed the Porsche Design Mate 10 Pro, a premium version of the Mate 10 Pro. This version is available in a Diamond Black color option with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
