Google debuts improved Daydream View VR headset

Today has been filled with a flurry of announcements and product releases from Google. Alongside the launch of the Pixel 2 devices, the tech giant has released an improved version of its virtual reality companion device, the Daydream View. Though not radically different from the original, this model of the Daydream View features several changes that should make it more immersive and comfortable for long periods of use.

The design is now a soft two-tone fabric that’s lightweight and cushioned, ensuring that it won’t become an irritation during prolonged usage. The lenses have also been improved, which boosts clarity and widens the field of view to create Google’s most immersive experience yet. Three new color options include Fog, Charcoal, and Coal.

The updated Daydream View still requires a Daydream-compatible phone, though that’s becoming more commonplace in the Android flagship market. Though the amount of VR content has grown tremendously, Google is promising increased growth and unique experiences as part of its partnerships with content providers.
