New Amazon Fire TV official, offers 4K and HDR support for $69.99

Amazon introduced a bevy of new Echo devices today, but there’s also a new product for folks looking for a new set-top box.

The new Amazon Fire TV is now official. This little square is reminiscent of a Google Chromecast, packing a short HDMI cable that’s attached to the unit, letting you dangle it from the back of your TV.

In terms of features, this new Fire TV includes support for 4K Ultra HD, HDR-10, and Dolby Atmos audio. It’s got 802.11ac Wi-Fi to let you stream all of that high-quality content, and there’s also an Alexa Voice Remote included. You can use this remote to control the Fire TV as well as use Alexa to control smart home devices, stream music, and more.

The raw specs of the new Fire TV include a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM (double that of the Fire TV Stick), and 8GB of built-in storage.

The new Amazon Fire TV is now available for pre-order for $69.99 ahead of its October 25 launch.

Amazon’s newest Fire TV device looks like a solid offering. Not only is it small, but it’s got features like 4K and HDR support, which are becoming must-haves for a new set-top box. Plus, its $69.99 price makes it an option for folks that want to stream high-res content on the cheap.

Are you going to buy this new Amazon Fire TV?
