Google issues Android security report scans 6 billion apps every day

As people plug more and more of their every day lives and important information into their smartphones, security continues to be important. And Google’s taking it seriously.

In its latest security report, Google has revealed that it scans a lot of devices, and even more apps, every single day all in an effort to keep Android users safe. Google says that over the last year it has scanned over 6 billion apps every day to scan for malware and other potentially dangerous software. At the same time, Google says it scanned over 400 million devices out in the real world every day to protect users from on-device and network attacks.  Chrome was also busy, protecting users with its Safe Browsing feature.

Google is still issuing monthly security updates for its mobile platform as well. Another big security-focused update includes better app permissions, which gives users the ability to give or revoke specific access to apps installed on their devices.

Google also made it harder for potentially dangerous apps to make it into Google Play to begin with. In its efforts, Google says that it is now 40 percent less likely that a user will install a potentially harmful app when compared to last year.
