AT&T matches Verizon’s upgrade fee of $20

Verizon recently enacted a $20 fee for customers upgrading with a phone payment plan or even bringing their own device. This didn’t sit well with Verizon customers, as they were being charged for the ability to give Verizon money for service. Of course, Verizon used the excuse of “AT&T and Sprint do it too!” and claimed it was to cover upgrade support costs.

Not to be outdone, AT&T has raised the same fee from $15 to $20 to match Verizon. Whether you buy a device on the Next payment plan or bring your own, you’ll still get charged $20. For those on contracts, the fee remains unchanged at $45.

Are you upset that both AT&T and Verizon are upping upgrade fees? While T-Mobile doesn’t always have as good a network as the big two carriers, it also has no upgrade fees for phone payment plans. It’s not hard to see why AT&T and Verizon are so disliked by customers.
