GOLD Nexus 6P?? Windows 10 on Xiaomi Mi 4, Droid Turbo Bootloader Unlocked! – XDA TV

It's Friday, December 4, 2015, and let's talk about what happened this week over at XDA-developers.com.

In a surprising turn of events… there's now "Special Edition" of the Nexus 6P that's exclusively available in Japan… and it's gold. I'm not huge on gold devices, but I know it's popular among iPhone users, so if that's your thing, and you're in Japan, or know someone who is, you might be in luck.

Samsung has launched a new line of A-series devices for 2016, the A3, A5, and A7, with specs ranging from "eh" to "ehh" and no actual pricing information. These will be launching in China in mid-December, and the launch will expand through next year.

Huawei's released a new all-metal device, the Enjoy 5S, with specs and pricing similar to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

Elephone announced a couple of new devices. First, the M3, which has a Helio P10 SoC, a USB Type-C connector, and should be available for just $99 in China. They also announced the Ivory PLus B, a fairly middle of the range device in most respects, but it's going to come running Android 6.0 out of the box, and have support for US LTE bands, potentially for $99 as well.

Oukitel has announced the K6000 Pro, which is another mid-range device, but it's got a massive 6000 milliamp hour battery. They haven't said what the price is going to be, instead asking their Facebook followers what price they would like to pay for it, so… there's that.

After their very successful previous crowdfunding campaign, Omate has announced another one for a new smartwatch, the Omate Rise. The Rise has a micro SIM slot and supports 3G on 1900 and 2100 megahertz bands, specwise it looks an awful lot like most of the Android Wear devices, but with a Mediatek chip, a speaker, and a bigger battery at 580 milliamp hours. Their IndieGogo campaign starts on December 7th, and the devices are going to start at $199 on there, shipping in March 2016. I heard a lot of horror stories about the TrueSmart, so I'd be curious what your thoughts are about it.

Moving on to device updates, this week Windows 10 was officially released by Xiaomi for the Mi 4. I definitely don't mind Windows 10 phones, but I'm not sure I'd wipe out an Android device for it… but to each their own, I suppose.

According to Mo Versi of HTC, Android 6 has been approved for the unlocked HTC One M8, and OTAs should be rolling out any time now. HTC has also released the Marshmallow kernel source for the M8 Google Play edition, if you've been waiting on that.

Motorola has started soak tests for Marshmallow on the Moto X Pure edition in the US, so be on the lookout if you've got that device.

A few systemless root images based on Chainfire's original concept have popped up this week for the Moto X Style running Marshmallow, and the Nvidia SHIELD Tablet.

XDA Recognized Developer Heathcliff74 created a tool called Windows Phone Internals, which allows users to unlock the bootloader on some Lumia phones, as well as, well, sort of "rooting" them, as it were. So it might be possible for some older Lumia devices to start seeing some new development love in the near future, be on the lookout for that.

XDA Senior Member sooti rolled out an unofficial build of OmniROM based on Marshmallow for the original Samsung Galaxy S, if you can believe it. Fair warning, alpha status, so don't expect it to pick up your dry cleaning for you or anything.

XDA Senior Recognized Developer jcase announced an updated build of the SunShine bootloader unlock tool, version 3.2 beta, which can now unlock the Droid Turbo.

XDA Senior Member DarkRazorZ wrote a guide to installing TWRP and rooting the HTC Butterfly 3.

New forums have been created for the Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile LG V10, the Huawei Mate 8, and the Asus Zenfone 5. PLUS, you now have the opportunity to Create Your Own Forum on XDA. That's right, some members are going to have the chance to create and moderate their own forum in conjunction with XDA, so if you have any ideas for new forums, head on over to the form in the portal post.

And 4 other videos were posted to XDA TV this week. Episodes 8 and 9 of the XDA / Android podcast went up, TK did an app review of Walloid, and RiroZizo showed how to flash CM 13 on the LG G4.
