Butterscotch Shenanigans announces an official release date for Crashlands. Congrats to Samuel on being cancer free!

Butterscotch Shenanigans has announced the official release date for their highly anticipated Crashlands game for mobile platforms. This game, which has been in the works for over 2 years now, will finally be getting released next month. That means there is still a bit of a wait left, but at least there is a definitive end to it.

If you happen to have missed our previous articles about this game, Crashlands is mix of different genres, mainly Survival and Action-RPG, all of which is set in a Sci-Fi themed universe. As the story goes:

Players will be taking control of Flux Dabes, a galactic delivery truck driver whose latest shipment gets interrupted by a megalomaniacal alien named "Q" who tears their ship to pieces looking for useful tech. When a ship is damaged badly, you tend to not be able to fly well, in space or in the sky. So after crashlanding on Woanope, you must do everything from fighting, taming, crafting, completing quests, taking on boss fights, and whatever else you can think of. The goal is to dominate of all the things on the planet so that you and JuiceBox, your trusty sidekick/supervisor/robotic cargo palette, can safely send a message to the Bureau of Shipping and get those damn packages delivered.

All the combat in this game takes place in real-time and each enemy type you encounter will have their own strengths and weaknesses. So learning your enemies is essential to success. So is picking the correct weaponry to use of course. The game will also be coming with its own modding tools, letting players create their own campaigns for Crashlands. You will be able to create your own maps, boss fights, enemies, dialog, stories and so on. The game outside of the modding tools is open-world and features crafting with an unlimited self-manager inventory.

There is a lot coming with the release of Crashlands, so even if you don't use any of the modding tools, you'll still have a lot of content available to play. So when can you get your hands on this game finally? Well Crashlands will be landing on Android, iOS and PC on January 16th, 2016. For PC gamers, it'll cost you $15, while mobile gamers will be able to snag the game for $5. Even better, Crashlands will feature cross-platform support as well when it arrives.

We would also like to take this time to say congrats to Samuel from Butterscotch Shenanigans on his clear PET scan. In other words, it looks like he has beaten his cancer! Here is what he had to say about this:

On top of all that, I got a clear PET scan last week, meaning I finally killed the goddamn cancer that started this game. Thank you for your support over the past 2 years (holy shit) and helping our 3 brother studio perform the most massive backflippin' FUCK YOU to cancer we could. Help us spread the word any way you can at 10am CST tomorrow and we'll be immensely grateful! (You can use #Crashlands if twits are your thing, too)

We will post an update once Crashlands finally arrives or when we get out early hands-on time with it, which should be soon.
