Pebble’s new smartwatch with color display, new design leaks ahead of announcement

Last week, Pebble launched a countdown timer on its site with a happy-looking blue Pebble smartwatch hovering above it. The company wanted you to share your email address to learn more, but the announcement still isn’t planned to go down until Tuesday, February 24.

But, as these things tend to happen, what Pebble is planning on announcing may have already been revealed through an image found on Pebble’s servers. The image seems to indicate that the smartwatch is indeed getting a design tweak, as previous rumors had suggested, with a new color e-paper-like display being at the forefront. The new wearable, which isn’t actually the new watch out in the wild, seems to have bigger bezels than the original Pebble watch, but the buttons on each side seem to be smaller at least.

The rumors also suggest that the new watch will be thinner, but as noted in the original report, it’s impossible to ascertain the truth of that just from this image. The new Pebble smartwatch is said to boast a Cortex M4 processor under the hood and a 6-axis gyroscope. Rumors also suggest that the battery life for the new Pebble will be about equal to the battery life in the original.

One new aspect that the render doesn’t also show is the new interface, which Pebble has hinted at on its own in the past. According to the original report, this new smartwatch will showcase a brand new operating system that was put together behind some members of the team that brought the world webOS. It will reportedly feature a timeline view for all recent notifications, and a plethora of new new animations.

What do you think of the new Pebble, based on the image above?
