CM12 Theme: DeepDarkness by _moelle

DeeoDarkness

Earlier this week, we covered a few CM12 themes as part of a guide to highlight some of the best community system themes out there, and today we dive in for a quick glance of one of the most popular CM12 themes, one of the proverbial crème de le crèmes – DeepDarkness by _moelle. This project started off as a little modification for a ROM and due to the overwhelming appraisal it received in its early stages, the theme evolved into a multi-device, universal CM12 theme, going on to earn thousands of downloads and a loyal user base.

DeepDarkness, as its name states, is one of the “dark” system themes, that chooses to use light text on dark backgrounds, as opposed to the dark on light scheme widely used by Lollipop. However, unlike most generic “xyz color on black background” themes, DeepDarkness brings its own unique branding to the Android system, a dark blue background with cyan accents, giving the device a futuristic, Tron-like look. The developer, _moelle, has paid excellent and unerring attention to detail, and no element of the system goes unthemed – from simple color changes and icon changes to style refreshments, every item is uniquely crafted. In addition to theming the system, DeepDarkness also covers a few third-party apps and comes with its own set of wallpapers, icons and softkeys.

If dark themes are to your liking – or even if they’re not – DeepDarkness is definitely worth checking out. The theme is free to download on Google Play, and you can keep up with the discussion in the DeepDarkness forum thread. Which is your go-to CM12 theme? Let us know in the comments below!
