T-Mobile SCORE! program details have leaked

Apparently T-Mobile is in the mood to help more of its customers upgrade to new smartphones, because just days after taking the wraps off of Smartphone Equality, details on another upgrade-focused initiative have leaked.

T-Mobile SCORE! is expected to launch on January 25. According to TmoNews sources, SCORE! is similar to JUMP!, but it’s aimed at non-Equipment Installment Plan customers. That includes subscribers that bought a full price device, BYOD folk, and anyone on a prepaid plan or postpaid plan without EIP.

SCORE! will reportedly cost $5 per month, and after 6 months, you’ll qualify for a free entry-level smartphone, like the LG Optimus L90 or T-Mobile Concord II. After being in SCORE! for 12 months, you’ll be eligible for “special handset pricing” on all other devices. It’s unclear exactly what that special pricing will be.

Since this is all unofficial, details like the upgrade limits, launch date, and more are subject to change. As it stands now, though, SCORE! sounds like it could be a nice way for folks to get free or discounted smartphones without having to pony up $10 per month for JUMP! and go the EIP route.
