Son of Light is an upcoming Shump that will arrive on January 30th

A new Shoot 'em Up, or Shmup for short, is heading our way at the end of this month called Son of Light. Developed by Uncommon Games, this new Shmup was apparently inspired by the gameplay found in another title called Knightmare Tower.

Son of Light is a top-down scrolling arcade shooter with a flare for retro design in its visuals. However this game plays out a bit differently than your standard arcade shooters. Instead of having to go through level after level, in Son of Light you will have to complete 10 levels in a row in order to complete the game. This includes bosses you will have to beat, enemies sneaking up to you, and waves of enemies coming right at you.

Son of Light Features:

· In one go, face waves of enemies and bosses to save the universe!
· Help yourself with explosive bonuses, piñatas, rainbows and many more!
· Improve your shields, jet engines, guns, shootguns, missiles, lasers ...
· Set up your weapons according to your objectives.
· Complete many secondary missions to unlock new upgrades!
· Accumulate speed bonuses to reach the speed of light!
· Collect crystals to upgrade your equipment.
· Accessible for both beginners and fierce gamers of hardcore shooting games.
· Survival mode

Of course like any good game of this type, players will have a variety of boosts and power-ups to help you complete you 10 levels. You can also improve your ship along that way with better shields, jet engines, guns, and other useful gear. Eventually you will also collect enough speed bonuses to reach the speed of light. There actually seems to be a lot stuffed into the 10 levels you have to complete in a row. If you don't accomplish this, you end up continuing until you do.

Son of Light will be available on Google Play on January30th, 2015. No word on what the price will be when it launches but if you grab a copy of the game before February 9th, 2015, you will be rewarded with a surprise. We don't know what that surprise is though.
