Wearable Apps w/ Andreas Göransson – XDA:DevCon 2014
XDA:DevCon 2014 in Manchester, UK featured quite a few interesting topics as sessions. For those not able to make it, we will be releasing another session for you to enjoy. We’ve had topics on Open Source with Alin Jerpelea’s session AOSP For Sony Devices: Past, Present and Future, Jan Wildeboer’s session Quo Vadis, Open {Source, Standards, World}?, and robotics with Android, Robotics and Vision Oh My! w/ Shane Francis and Nvidia and Robotics w/ Barrett Williams. Today’s topic a little closer to home: Android Wear.
Our presenter Andreas Göransson has written the book on Android Wear–well maybe not the only book, but a book. He has been developing wearable projects for the past five years together with his friends and colleagues at Malmö University and Aarhus University. During the day, he teaches computer related courses at Malmö University; and during the evening, he solves programming problems of various kinds. His presentation is entitled simply, Building Wearable Apps with Android.
Göransson talks about Wearable computing and how it is a concept that has grown popular the recent years with devices such as interactive glasses, lifelogging cameras, smart watches, wearable sensors, and more. Since Google I/O 2014 the SDK’s is available to play with, if you’re interested in the new Wear SDK check out this video of his session. In this talk Göransson covers the SDK including notifications, apps, design, and more.
