Samsung Expands European Galaxy S5 Lollipop Rollout

Galaxy S5 Lollipop Rollout in Spain

A while back, we spoke about the start pf the Android 5.0 Lollipop rollout to Galaxy S5 users in Poland. According to reports, the update is now rolling out to users in Spain. While the Polish release was bug-free for the most part and much faster than previous versions, the rollout was restricted to users located within Poland–perhaps for further testing and bug fixing. With that seemingly complete, the Spanish rollout is the second wave in what seems to be a staggered rollout across Europe.

The update schedule seems to be slightly off track, with initial reports slating December to be the time frame for Lollipop’s arrival on Samsung’s 2014 flagships. However, December is drawing to a close and neither flagship has seen a widespread rollout. With smooth sailing, we could be looking at early January for the Galaxy S5 rollout, following which Samsung should turn it’s attention to the Galaxy Note 4.

At the moment, no variants other than the Spanish and Polish S5s are receiving OTAs, and meanwhile, you can head over to the official S5 firmware thread to discuss the new build
