Live Channels app for Android TV listed but empty

R Padla

Android TV has been around for some time and it still continues to impress people with new things. Just recently, a new app for Android TV popped up on the Google Play Store. The app is currently listed but it seems there is no content available at all. Google could just be teasing us Android fans about getting 'live TV' or maybe it was just an honest mistake. Whatever it is, we know about Google's plans --or not.

The app called Live Channels for Android TV is developed not by any 3rd party developer but by Google. Could the search giant be trying to be different now by offering live content? Maybe. All I know is that video streaming has a place in the market today.

The likes of Firestick, Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku all promise enjoyable streaming on your TV. No need for cable subscription because connection to the Internet will do. Soon enough, such apps can offer more such as live channels but Google may beat others to it.

The ‘Live Channels for Android TV’ is already on the Google Play Store but it's just a dummy app. It exists. It's already out there but you can't use it, at least, not yet. Google must still be testing the Live Channels app before a working version is out.

Google hasn't made an official announcement yet for obvious reasons: there is no final app to show off. Live online streaming? That would be cool but please make it happen, Google.
