Latest YouTube update brings in Material Design makeover

Google is making its way through its roster of apps with a Material Design update for each one. The latest, and very notable, app to get outfitted with Material Design is the YouTube app. Opening up the app shows a revised bright red toolbar that features the new menu button. Tapping the menu button opens up a tweaked navigation drawer that has been updated for Material Design and now has a white background.

The YouTube icon has been slightly changed in order to follow the Material Design guidelines. Going into channels reveals the usual Material Design tweaks along with use of the Palette feature from Lollipop that matches the theme color of the channel with colors pulled from the channel artwork. A final major addition is that of advanced search filters to help you narrow down your options and better find what you’re looking for.
