HTC: One (M8) Google Play edition Lollipop update will begin tomorrow

Get excited, HTC One (M8) Google Play edition owners, because at this time tomorrow, you’ll be enjoying a Lollipop treat.

HTC’s Mo Versi confirmed tonight that the One (M8) GPe’s update to Android 5.0 has been approved by Google and that it’ll begin rolling out tomorrow, December 5. Versi says that the update will begin at noon, and that’s likely 12:00 pm PST since that’s the time zone that Versi is located in.

HTC One GPe owners have patiently been waiting for their Lollipop update for nearly a month now, as it was originally supposed to begin in mid-November, but it hit some delays and required a respinning by HTC. Thankfully, the delays didn’t last long, and now the One (M8) GPe users can rest easy knowing that they’ll be enjoying Lollipop this weekend.

Oh, and yeah, Versi specifically called out the One (M8) in his announcement. Whether or not the One (M7) GPe’s update will begin tomorrow or not is unclear, but if it doesn’t, we expect that it’ll be along fairly shortly.
