Firefox OS Architecture and Collaboration Opportunities w/ Asa Dotzler – XDA:DevCon 2014

AsaDevcon2014

We were privileged to host many presentations on open source at this year’s XDA:DevCon 2014 in Manchester, UK. For those of you who were not able to make it to the sessions, we will be releasing another video for you to enjoy. The event started off with the open source session Quo Vadis, Open {Source, Standards, World}? w/ Jan Wildeboer. With Alin Jerpelea’s session AOSP For Sony Devices: Past, Present and Future, we found out what a company like Sony is doing to get involved in open source. Open source is more than just access to code, it’s about choice. Today’s talk from Asa Dotzler talks about open source and choice.

Dotzler has been participating in Mozilla for over 15 years. He is perhaps best known for his work as the community coordinator for several far-reaching Mozilla programs. He was founder of Mozilla’s Quality Assurance and Testing Program, which grew under his leadership from just a few contributors to tens of thousands of volunteers today. Dotzler is also co-founder of Spread Firefox, where he spearheaded Mozilla’s open source marketing program. He has been an active member of the Mozilla community since 1998. His presentation is entitled Firefox OS Architecture and Collaboration Opportunities.

Firefox OS is Mozilla’s mobile operating system. Today, it is available in 24 markets, on a variety of handsets from dozens OEM and operator partners. In this presentation Asa Dotzler introduces the basic architecture of Firefox OS and opportunities for XDA contributors to participate in Firefox OS development and porting.

Be sure to stay tuned for more exciting xda:devcon 2014 coverage.
