Factory Image Released for the Google Nexus 9

N9-grid1-1600

One of the first three devices to receive a final version of Android 5.0 Lollipop is the Google Nexus 9. This HTC-manufactured tablet manufactured is one of the most powerful tablet devices ever released, thanks in part to its 64-bit Tegra K1 processor. If you managed to score one for yourself, we have good news for you, as Google has released the factory image for the device that can be used to restore Lollipop to its stock form on your new toy. This is the first version of Android Lollipop publicly available as a factory image.

A few hours ago, Google released the fully buildable source code that can be built for Nexus 9 and Nexus Player. If you want to build a fresh system image for yourself, you need to wait a bit or pull some of the files from existing image, since Google hasn’t released the binaries yet. Everything should be made available within next few days or even hours, though.

We are still waiting for images and binaries for other devices that are slated to receive Lollipop. Google promised to release an update for Nexus 10, Nexus 5, Nexus 4 and all variants of Nexus 7. If you can’t wait, press F5 on the Factory Images for Nexus Devices site and Binaries for Nexus Devices to get the latest files by Google and its partners. And for the rest of you, let the porting begin!
