Android distribution stats show KitKat continues to prosper
Google has updated its Android distribution stats for a 7-day period ending on November 3. For the new month, the numbers don’t reveal anything too surprising, but it’s certainly a good time for KitKat.
Google officially updated the developer page for Android to reflect the newest stats regarding Android distribution across the separate platform versions. As it turns out, Android 4.4 KitKat has seen quite the bump since the previous month’s numbers. Specifically, this month revealed that KitKat is on 30.2 percent of devices that access the Google Play Store. Compare that to the 24.5 percent from the month prior.
The rest of the numbers show only slight variations from the month before. Android 4.1 through 4.3 Jelly Bean garnered just over 50 percent of the total distribution, which is a slight drop from the 53.8 percent it held in September. Android 4.0.2 – 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich tallied up 8.5 percent of the distribution this time around.
As aforementioned, nothing too surprising in the results, especially to see KitKat continuing to gain ground within the market. Which version of Android is your daily driver running?
