Samsung has quite a long history with tablet devices, which began even before Google created its own tablet-friendly flavor of Android. Ever since the original Galaxy Tab, Samsung has been continually improving its tablet offerings to give Android fans a compelling alternative to the Apple iPad. Now almost four years later, Samsung has unveiled its fourth iteration of the Galaxy Tab series with the new Galaxy Tab 4 lineup.

The Galaxy Tab 4 comes in three flavors: 7″, 8″, and 10.1. And aside from screen size, battery capacity, and storage differences, the variants are largely identical. All devices in the Tab 4 family offer a 1280×800 display, backed by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor of unknown type, 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage (8 GB available on the 7″), and a TouchWiz-laden build of Android 4.4 KitKat. These devices all feature a microSD card slot and are geared to multimedia use, rather than Samsung’s more business-centric Note line.

Does the Tab 4 have what it takes to be your next tablet? Let us know in the comments below, and don’t forget to visit our newly created Galaxy Tab 4 forum to get in on the action.
