The Philips W6618 may be low-end, but its 5300 mAh battery sure isn’t

These days, smartphone batteries are competent enough to get us through a day at work with medium usage, but heavy use starts kills. Devices like the Galaxy Note 3 (3200 mAh) incorporate larger batteries, while devices like the Droid MAXX are made for large batteries (the Droid MAXX has a very impressive 3500 mAh battery). This new Philips phone is simply insane.

The general specs are incredibly unimpressive, bordering on the low-end of the smartphone spectrum. The 5-inch display features a qHD resolution, the internals are a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad core, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage with a microSD slot, an 8MP camera, and Android 4.2. But the battery is a whopping 5300 mAh, far exceeding most small tablet batteries.

This device boasts almost one and a half days of talk time and about two months of standby. And thickness doesn’t take a huge hit; the device is a reasonable 11.4mm thick. Not slim by any means, but not incredibly chunky. It’s almost two and a half millimeters thinner than the original Motorola DROID.

Yes, most of us would not buy such a low spec’d device. However, that battery just makes me drool. Would you sacrifice some thinness for a larger battery in your current device? Tell us in the comments.
