Welcome to the latest entry in our Bonus Round series, wherein we tell you all about the new Android games of the day that we couldn't get to during our regular news rounds. Consider this a quick update for the dedicated gamers who can't wait for our bi-weekly roundups, and don't want to wade through a whole day's worth of news just to get their pixelated fix. Today we've got a platformer with classic sensibilities, a new take on the match three puzzle, an unbearably cute physics game, a dudebro version of Asteroids, and a math puzzler. Foxtrot!
FoxTrot couldn't be any more retro if you had to play it on a TI calculator. Between the simple running and jumping controls, the 16-bit art, and entire classic games hidden cleverly within levels, it's a title that revels in its old-school inspiration. This isn't a runner game - you can go both right and left - so anyone looking for a solid platformer should check it out.

Caveboy Escape
There are a ton of Match-3 puzzle games out there, but this one has a fresh idea: instead of moving tiles around a la Bejeweled, you control a tiny character running across them. The idea is that he has to run on three consecutive tiles of a single color before moving to another color, creating a cohesive path from the start of the grid to the end of it. Any innovation in this tired niche is welcome, so it's worth overlooking the F2P model for this one.

Caveboy Escape offers innovative puzzle gameplay, utilizing subtle match-3 and connecting tile gameplay that feels fresh and will tickle puzzle gamers’ brains. It takes a keen eye and quick thinking to navigate Caveboy to the exit – Finding the right path will be a challenge as the size of the labyrinth continues to grow. Time is also of the essence as Caveboy must reach the exit or the maze will collapse.

Ignore the gymrat dudebro vibe that permeates this game, and you'll find a twitchy alternative to Asteroids. The point is to fly around a 2D asteroid field collecting "Juice." Get more juice to open up access to bigger and better ships, with special abilities that will let you clear through the asteroid field. It's a solid little game, just try to avoid the "give it to me faster" IAPs.
