Sprint’s Galaxy S5 User Agent Profile shows standard model with lower specs

Yesterday, we reported that there might be two models of the Samsung Galaxy S5 released. If the information were true, it would mean that the Exynos model of the device would come with a 1080p display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of memory, while the Snapdragon model would have a QHD display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Benchmarks pinned the US Cellular model as a “premium” Galaxy S5, so we assumed the US market would be getting the high-end model.

The latest info throws that theory out the window. According to a User Agent Profile from Sprint, the Sprint model of the Galaxy S5 will feature a 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 13MP camera. This sounds identical to the “standard” version of the Galaxy S5 described for Europe and supports the existence of two different models of the Galaxy S5. Confused?

It could be that both models are coming to the US. But with the standard and premium models seemingly having the same name and model number, it’s hard to see how it would be possible to advertise both without diminishing the value of the premium model. Or, someone somewhere got all this information wrong and Samsung will just show off one model of the Galaxy S5 at its Unpacked event later this month. Who knows?
