LG G2 comparison video pits KitKat-powered unit against Jelly Bean device

There’s been an awful lot of talk lately concerning Android 4.4 updates for the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4, but today the focus is falling on KitKat for another 2013 Android flagship.

LG U.K. today posted a video to YouTube to tease the Android 4.4 update for the G2. The near 3-minute clip features to G2 units, one running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and another with Android 4.4 KitKat, and compares the speed of the two phones as they perform various tasks. The KitKat-powered G2 bested its Jelly Bean counterpart in all of the tests, including waking from sleep with KnockOn 9ms quicker and capturing a photo 21ms faster.

LG says that the G2′s update to KitKat will bring with it a number of goodies. Those include improved music playback, a battery-saving location mode and general performance improvements. Once a user’s G2 has been updated to Android 4.4, LG says that he or she will see a “noticeable speed boost” that enables the device to load apps up to 17 percent faster.

So when can you and your G2 break off a piece of Google’s Android-shaped KitKat bar? LG U.K. says that the update will begin rolling out in mid-March, but there’s no word yet on when other regions will start to see the update. Judging by the performance improvements that LG shows off in this new video, though, the wait for the G2′s Android 4.4 update will be worth it.
